March 5 - Datu Demetrio Balocloc, Jr. and his council took their Oath of Office before City Mayor Pons S. Casurra on March 4, 2010. Balocloc and his council will take responsibility for the progress and development of around 40 native families settled in said Sitio. At present, the Mamanua Tribe of Tagbasingan has one Alternative Learning Center for the pre-school Mamanua children being taught by Mobile Teacher Mr. Arnel Marte.

March 2 - Mayor Pons Casurra conferred the Medal of Excellence to Ryan Joshua P. Calo, who won 3rd Place winner in the 7th NATIONAL SCIENCE QUEST, held at Tabaco National High School, Tabaco, Albay on February 3-5, 2010. Ryan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jose Ronald T. Calo. The awarding was witnessed by coach and SPED Teacher Ms. Cheryl G. Porras and Ms. Noemi D. Lim, SCPS Principal.

March 1 - Kenh Jelou Salado accompanied by his mother, Jemma, personally thanked Mayor Pons Casurra for facilitating the needed surgical intervention for his son through the CHP headed by Mrs. Chesna C. Ycong. Dr. Jay Remy Gonzales, a medical specialist, performed the surgical operation on the congenital disorder of Kenh’s ‘Cleft Lip & Cleft Palate’. Today, Kenh is developing his confidence and hopeful to having a normal childhood life. His mother is also happy to see his son beaming with a smile. Jemma Salado is a resident of Manhuyay, Malimono and she expressed her full-hearted support to Mayor Pons for his sincerity and commitment in helping his son.

February 17 - The new Regional Director of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) SSupt Rex D. Delarmente was warmly welcomed by Mayor Pons Casurra as he paid a courtesy call on the City’s Chief Executive on February 16, 2010. The new RD was escorted by the City Warden SInsp Reynaldo Balmori and other BJMP officers.

February 16 - City Mayor Pons Casurra graced the Surigao del Norte Retirees Association Incorporated (SUNRAI) Valentine’s Party on Feb 13, 2010 at the Surigao City Cultural Center. He also crowned the SUNRAI’s Valentines King and Queen.

February 8 - The new batch of Youth With A Mission (YWAM) from Germany paid a courtesy call on Mayor Pons Casurra before embarking in their weeklong Christian mission in the City of Surigao. They will then proceed to Talavera, Taganaan for their other activities while in the province. Soriano Catulay, Jr., YWAM Coordinator presented them to the City Mayor.

January 21 - The new Battalion Commander of the 30th IB Lt. Col. Roberto A. Valencia paid a courtesy call on Mayor Pons Casurra in his office on January 19, 2010. The Commander together with his loving wife and his men were warmly welcomed by the City Mayor.

January 20 - Philippine Navy Commander COR Emmanuel C. Bello together with his men LTJG Roy G. Gajo PN and ENS Joven Mel Sunny C. Aclan PN, paid a call to city Mayor Pons Casurra in the morning of January 19,2010 at City Hall. Mayor Pons informed Bello that he is including their group to be member of the Surigao City Peace and Order Council and expect him to be present during the next meeting.

January 18 - Mayor Pons Casurra warmly welcomed the newly installed Philippine National Police (PNP) Surigao del Norte Provincial Director PSSupt Gilbert de la Cruz as he paid a courtesy call on the City’s Chief Executive on January 15, 2010. PSSupt Cruz was accompanied by PCInsp Charlie Cabradilla, Intelligence Officer, SDN and PInsp Jose Lumacang, Deputy Chief of the Surigao City Police Station.

January 12 - Mayor Pons Casurra delivered his message at the 1st Regular Division Management Committee (ManCom) Conference held at the Surigao City Cultural Center. The conference was hosted by District 1 headed by Mr. Bel Ciencia. Also joining were City Budget Officer Ms. Cecile Maquiling, City Treasurer Ms. Sarah Yamit, Asst. Budget Officer Ms. Marietta Samson, and Mr. Tomas Bullo, Brgy. Taft Secretary.
